5.0 out of 5 stars Best of all solo efforts, Feb 21 2011
This review is from: Broken China (Audio CD)
Of all the solo recordings by various ex-Floyd members, this is the most comprehensive and balanced. Clearly the output of Wright is not great but this would rate as the best of the solo recordings that meet Pink Floyd Standards. Of course beginning with The Wall there was not a falling apart of the band and the were already losing their grip on creativity. It seems only now Gilmour is coming out of it with On An Island. Either Wright was to modest or unsure of himself to tour with this album. If you liked Pink Floyd when they were really doing something you enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and Wonderful, Sep 15 2009

Richard Wright is an amazing talent and this concept album attests to that. Other reviewers have written about the content and various aspects of the music of this album, so I spare the reader from repeating details and technicalities. I have had this album for about 6 years now, and recently returned to it, and listened to it by headphone a few times in a matter of a few days. Wright's soundscapes are amazing, inspiring, moody, melancholic, choking, and rejuvenating. In other words, there isn't anything he can't do with music. He returns to what Floyd lost to Roger Water's departure: concept album. The entire feat is about repressed memory syndrome due to childhood abuse, and how a remakable human effort can put that all behind, so that one can live a better future. A truly humane and inspiring work of art, and socially committed, not to mention musically magical. For this I am eternally thankful. This hypnotic piece of music is the legacy of a humble and bright musician who is no longer among us. RIP Rick.

4.0 out of 5 stars The dark side of the remaining Floyd, Jan 27 2004
By
This review is from: Broken China (Audio CD)
I've always thinked Richard Wright was the dark side of Pink Floyd. Here is the proof. Through this album you can feel the scence of the early 70's Pink Floyd underground music, as in Division Bell. The music is better than recent works from floyd's members (Waters and Gilmour), except by Amused To Death, a really extraordinary Waters' work.
