Product Description

Album Description

Subiza, named after the bucolic Basque town in which it was recorded, is Delorean's debut album on the True Panther label (home of GIRLS). The album has been mixed by Chris Coady (BEACH HOUSE, GRIZZLY BEAR, TV ON THE RADIO), and is the band's most defining work to date. Fusing relentless hands-in-the-air club rhythms with shimmering melodies, 'Subiza' is the record it took Delorean ten years to evolve into. The dance-club rhythms and airy melodies they have toyed with in the past are fused and textured, making for a deeply obsessive, hypnotic album that retains the easy appeal of great pop music. Delorean have delivered remixes for bands such as THE XX, COLD CAVE, THE MYSTERY JETS and THE BIG PINK.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lives Up to the Hype, Nov 27 2010
By B. Rigg "skyroach" - Published on Amazon.com
I'll admit that Girls is a band that is hip and cool to be a fan of these days. No doubt they would sell out some venue like the Troubadour or even the Wiltern maybe. Regardless, these dudes are making excellent 60's inspired rock that is both heartfelt and aesthetically pleasing. What are you waiting for??? Come on Hipsters, eMusic doesn't have Girls anymore, so download this now!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An unconventional little masterwork, Dec 10 2010
By Jake C - Published on Amazon.com
Girls is the best new band of the last couple years. I say that for its consistent growth and thrilling production, but chiefly because Girls recalls a feeling too long forgotten in popular music. The sadness of our current indie champions is maudlin: the biggest album of the last few years in this scene, Funeral, which I admire, is grandly instrumented and tackles grand themes. Girls inhabits a space of far quieter, more reserved melancholy; I find it more compelling. Can you even imagine a smaller, sadder line than, "There's a voice in the back of my head that says/ you're always gonna be alone/ go turn the tv on/ and/ turn off the telephone"? I don't mean that the band is emo, but that everything they play has a compelling edge of yearning. It's beautiful.

Girls' latest EP is short and sweet, kind of like this review. There's a reason Pitchfork put this on their top album list for 2010!
