I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love is raw & all over the place [which isn't a bad thing in this case]. It includes the beautiful piece 'Romance' [maybe known to you as 'Romance Anonimo' or 'Spanish Romance'] which is played very nicely by who I assume to be Ray Toro. The first single ever released by MCR is also on the album, 'Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us' which is just a giant 'f*** you' to whoever it's written about. Also contains the second single & one of MCR's most popular songs [among the fan base] 'Vampires Will Never Hurt You' which contains heavy guitar; fans of hardcore would frolic over the song. 'Drowning Lessons' has all the instruments working so well together, I didn't even know what the hell they did to achieve the sound! 'Our Lady of Sorrows' is fast punk with chords & almost sounds like thrash metal [a tiny bit]. 'Headfirst for Halos' is probably the most popular song with a stunning intro by Ray Toro [good luck trying to cover! >.<] followed by lyrics about suicide; but as the lead singer Gerard Way would say "don't do it". 'Skylines and Turnstiles' was the first MCR song so it's recommended to hardcore fans [or people who wish to be hardcore]. 'Early Sunsets Over Monroeville' is the soft song & is definitely worth a listen over & over again... it has simple guitar, but lovely none the less. 'This Is the Best Day Ever' is kind of lame but in a good way! Just listen & you'll see. 'Cubicles' has a constant guitar riff & will have "I know you don't work here anymore" stuck in your head for weeks. Last but not least 'Demolition Lovers' is an epic song [& by epic I don't mean good (although it is good) I mean epic] with a slow beginning to the whole thing breaking down.Read more ›

I was first introduced to MCR by a friend who sent me "Headfirst For Halos." All it took was one listen and I HAD to hear more of their stuff. I think "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" is the second song I heard, and from then on, I was enamored with MCR. You can try to classify them in any genre you want, but that's just the beauty of it. You just can't say, "These guys are definitely emo/punk/hardcore/whatever." I believe I read in an interview online that they just considered themselves a kick-ass rock band. And, all the way from Gerard Way's vocals, Ray and Frank's guitars, Mikey's bass, and Matt's drums, that's exactly what they are, with an emphasis on the 'kick-ass.'
The opener, "Romance", is just about the only song on the CD that won't knock you flat on your ass. Even "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville" builds in intensity towards the end and is quite an amazing song. "Demolition Lovers", possibly my favorite track, starts off seemingly slow, but also builds up intensity quick and then seemingly stops, only to start again slowly and continues into an insane breakdown. My Chemical Romance is now my favorite band, and 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love' my favorite CD. Though with MCR having a new CD coming out on, I believe June 8th, that may be changing.
All I have to say is: CHECK THESE GUYS OUT, they're awesome, and they deserve the support for all the energy they put into their music and devotion to their fans.

When I read an interview with the lead singer Gerard way some 6 months ago, I was taken aback by the man's honesty and intelligence. The emo / hardcore scene is one which I have never been involved or particularly interested in, and the closest I've got to it is a dodgy copy of dashboard confessional - probably not the best place to start. So I bought the MCR cd and have been completely blown away. Not since I heard Jeff Buckley's Grace have I heard such emotional and frankly ultra-personal and introspective lyrics. Anyone who has felt the epic frustrations of love and loving will find some kind of affinity with this album. The influences are obvious but not unwelcome, most notably the smiths, at the drive in and early offspring. The true stand out tracks are vampires will never hurt you, demolition lovers, and headfirst for halos. Most notably of all, this album makes me want to be young again to rediscover those magnified teenage feelings of hormones rage and love. I hope it reaches a crossover market, so it can teach supposed rock stars how to write somgs that matter and make you feel alive.

I've been listening to the songs "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" and "Drowning Lessons" for the past few months while I've been searching the entire state looking for this album. I finally found it today and I've been playing it nonstop. I've heard some negative feedback about this album, but I've also heard some incredible things about it. What My Chemical Romance gives us here is one of the most solid, emotional albums I've heard in quite some time. The "stab me/stab you" vocals complement the music extremely well. The album is not groundbreaking, MCR is not creating a new genre or anything, but they're close to perfecting the one they're in. I wouldn't be surprised if this album (or a follow-up) were to catch on and get huge in a year or so. I'll admit that when I first heard the song "Headfirst For Halos" I hated it, but even the weak spots of the album are incredible when you listen to the album as a whole. Now that's a rare accomplishment, an album without filler. Any track on this album would make a good single (well, on any station that's got a good taste for underground/indie rock at least). And to make them even better, they're from New Jersey!
Standout tracks -- "Drowning Lessons", "Our Lady Of Sorrows", "Demolition Lovers"
