1.0 out of 5 stars BIG waste of money, Nov 20 2011

This review is from: Building Accounting Systems Using Access 2010 (Paperback)
This is easily one of the worst textbooks I've ever had. The book has a massive list of flaws, but I'll focus on the main two:

1) The index is completely worthless. Half the time it just takes you to a topic that is only indirectly related to what you are actually looking for - for instance, you might look up "reports based on multi-table queries" and then it takes you to a page on setting up queries that has nothing to do with reports.

2) It's VERY unclear. Considering Access is already a convoluted program to use, I really needed something that was going to give me clear, straightforward directions. You'd think a $100+ textbook, that is specifically for people trying to learn how to use the program, would do that, but no.
Lets say you finally get to the topic you're looking for and just want to know how to set a report up - well too bad. This book is instead going to give you 4 pages about why reports are so useful and great and then, if you're lucky, either incredibly basic (and therefore useless information) or more advanced, but nicely vague directions about actually setting one up.

Save yourself some money and just Google "access [whatever topic you need]." It's a thousand times more helpful.
