If you're a fan of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, be sure to check out this CD. All the influences that they talk about were, infact, influenced by the musicians on this CD. ENJOY!

The collection of songs on this disc is great. A wide variety of sounds from the Jazz Age is ideal for introducing someone to the era of Broadway of the 1930's. I've played it as intro music when I have small dinner parties and cocktail hours. It really helps set the mood. My only complaint is that the disc is pretty short, as most of the songs are short themselves. However, it's a great compilation-type disc of early jazz favorites.

I love this CD - from start to finish, but I wanted to throw out a special mention for (one of the contemporary performers) Dick Hyman, who plays so beautifully on his solo piano version of "Thou Swell" and also on the two piano duet "That Certain Feeling". Wonderful stride-style piano playing. I understand that Dick Hyman was also the band leader for the "Three Deuces" orchestra that plays in scenes in the film.
This is a great CD, I couldn't recommend it more. A wonderful selection of classic and contemporary recordings.
