Top food writers Silvana Franco, Ursula Ferrigno, Clare Ferguson, and Elsa Petersen-Schepelern have banded together to give you their choice of the very best of Italian recipes in this beautiful book. Try Antipasti such as Crostini and Bruschetta or Mussels with Garlic, Parsley, and Lemon, or wonderful salads such as Tonno e Fagioli (tuna and beans) or Insalata Gonzaga. Bread and Pizza are easy to make yourself and taste wonderful. Try Focaccia with Olives, Wafer Potato Pizza with Taleggio, Pizza Marinara, or the famous Quattro Stagioni (four seasons) Pizza. Delicious Soups, Pasta, and Risotto include Pumpkin Bean Soup, Fettuccine with Gorgonzola Sauce and Pesto, Baked Lasagne, Gnocchi with Tomato Sauce, a Pumpkin Risotto, another with artichokes, and yet another with asparagus, peas, and basil. Entrees include Polpette al Limone (meatballs with cheese and lemon), Italian Roast Chicken, or Sea Bass Packages. The Vegetables chapter includes Stuffed Roasted Bell Peppers, and Tuscan Panzanella. Italians adore Sweet Things. Try Gelato di Crema, with variations such as peach or strawberry, or with Italian liqueurs such as Strega. There is also Lemon Polenta Cake, Gelato di Tiramisu, plus four citrus Sorbetti -- lime, orange, mandarin, and lemon. 5.0 out of 5 stars Colorful Book of Italian Cuisine, Feb 6 2008
By J. Carroll "doetsch fan" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Buonissimo: Delicious Modern Recipes for Traditional Italian Cooking (Hardcover)
This Italian cookbook includes large, colorful pictures of each recipe. The recipes are fairly simple. The average person would not have difficulty finding the ingredients or following the instructions. It includes recipes for Italian pastas, meat dishes, soups, salads, risottos, pizzas and desserts. I made the pizza marinara and it turned out great. I followed the basic pizza dough recipe that can be used for any of the pizza recipes in the book, such as roasted eggplant pizza, cherry tomato pizza, goat cheese pizza, mushroom pizza and pizza marinara. The chickpea salad is fabulous, also. Dessert recipes include gelato, tiramisu, zabaglione, lemon polenta cake, and coffee granita.
