The survival of a people,
By Johnny Bird (Regina, Sask.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (DVD)
This movie as a piece of film art is a must-see, as an historical revelation and lesson it is a must-see, and as a entertaining work of cinema it is a must-see. The story itself has to be placed on equal grounds with the importance of Schindler's List, The Pianist, Malcolm X, When the Levees Broke, Hotel Rwanda, and Roots (among others). The struggle of a people(s) to survive against severe government and societal oppression is the message of the film. Buy the dvd or rent it and appreciate what is being presented before you because although it is a film, it is also important history and still a reality for thousands of people.

Painfully emotional...,

This review is from: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (DVD)
This video will move you to tears. Written from the view of the Native peoples, this story offers nothing short of the absolute truth about what happened leading up to Wounded Knee and of centuries of betrayal. Sadly, this is the story of hundreds of nations who encountered a conquering human force. Well worth watching, no matter what path you walk.

Used the movie for teaching about colonization and not too often you get a movie that is close to the truth as this movie appeared to be.
