Wish I could give it less than one star, Feb 16 2010

I've read every book in this series. They started off mildly entertaining, but they've been declining in quality since Play It Again, Spam. I've picked up the latest release each year, hoping that the quality would improve, but these hopes were always dashed. I'm not sorry to see this series end. I want the hours I spent reading this book back!

over the top, Feb 18 2010

while this series has always had slapstick and slighty-incredible storylines, this latest (and last??) entry is just horribly absurd. In summary, it is rambling, sloppy and self-indulgent. There are none of the laugh-out-loud moments from earlier books in the series. I almost hope this IS the last, as Magdalena has just become a parody of herself. I read this entire series in the past 5 months and also have the Den of Antiquity series to read, but now I think I'll wait a while before tackling that series...

Total waste, Feb 16 2010

Don't know what is worse - the time wasted to read it or the money spent on buying it.
No plot to speak of, the intended "comic ramblings" do appear more to be more a product of a very sick mind.
Very disappointing - I liked Magdalena in the earlier books - too bad that lack of literary prowess of her creator caused the heroin to loose any credibility at all. Magdalena is not credible in any aspect - as a mother, a wife, a detective.
Even the recipes are downloaded from a website.
The only positive aspect is that it would appear to be the end of this series: started out good - shame that it ends on such a low note.
