5.0 out of 5 stars very good book Jan. 31 2010
By julia katy - Published on Amazon.com

This book is fantastic. It has a lots of medical terms that have the phonetical trasncription in paranthesis. Not to mention that after every word the author divides it into parts and explain to you EVERY TIME what the segments mean. And the CD at the backis awsome. I recommend for people buying it used to make sure with the seller that the book will have the cd. It has audio dictionary, interactive games, matching games, labeling images etc. I mean, really, it is the best. A bit pricey, but it's worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Many of the reviews here seem to be for condition/shipping... Oct. 23 2010

This is a review of the product itself. The graphics and descriptions of the medical terms are helpful in grasping the concepts. Unfortunately, the text has quite a few errors and some referenced figures are missing/incorrectly labeled.

Here are some examples:

"A chalazion (kah-LAY-zee-on), also known as an internal stye, is a localized swelling inside the eyelid resulting from obstruction a sebaceous gland."

the obstruction of

"Refraction is an examination procedure to determine an eye's refractive error so that the best corrective lenses to be prescribed."

to/can

Hopefully the next edition will be better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Errors in Kindle edition Jan. 18 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I recently rented this as a text ebook. Spelling is an important part for this course as changing a letter here and there can mean a whole different word. The very FIRST vocabulary word in the first chapter was misspelled. Later on in the first chapter, another vocabulary word was misspelled. I checked with someone who has the print edition of the book, and those words were not misspelled in the print edition. Either Amazon is doing no quality control on their ebook conversion or there are errors in the Kindle app that are rendering the wrong letters. I am still in the beginning of this course and haven't ventured past the first chapter, but based on my experience so far, this won't be the last error I see.

This is from the Kindle for Mac app and the Kindle for Android app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Medical Terminology for Health Professionals June 2 2010

This book is great for learning medical terms as well as medical procedures. I think that its broken down in such a way that even if you don't have any medical knowledge you are still able to grasp the concepts that are taught in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand Feb. 15 2010
By T. Clement - Published on Amazon.com

I had to buy this book for a medical terminology class I am taking in college. It is very east to understand. I also love how the back of the book has all the pre fix, suffix and root words that we have to know. You just tear out the little notecards. It says the defination on the front and the answer on the back of the card. Makes it much easier to understand and I don't have to make hundreds of my own notecards.
