As a recent university accounting graduate, Angela's book has certainly cleared my confusion about various accounting designations and helped me look beyond Canadian designations. The book is filled with real-life examples, unique insights and practical tips on how to succeed in the increasingly competitive job market. It also analyzes the latest market trends in the recession economy which are particularly useful to new graduates. The book begins by providing the readers an overview of the accounting profession in the international business market, the potential growth in demand of accountants and the advantages of being an accountant. It goes on to guide the readers in exploring the different types of accounting certifications/designations and finding the right fit when choosing the right one to pursue.
Then it talks about the barriers or obstacles that the visible minority might face when practicing the accounting profession in North America and the challenges of the accounting career itself in general. At then end, the author shares the secrets to becoming a successful CPA woman from her own experience.
What I find the most helpful in this book is that the book clearly lists out the steps to take or items to consider when making decisions. In addition, the author has provided the most updated market information from various credible sources. Most importantly, her success story has inspired me to pursue a career in accounting.

I think this book is absolutely overpriced. It is very thin and it only gives very general guidance on how you can explore your career options in accounting. I work for one of the accounting firms and bought this book because I thought it's gonna provide "Guide to success in Accounting Career" (as what the name suggested), but it turned out to be a very general career guidance book with insufficient details and elaborations. Honestly, I will just buy something else to read if I need general career guidance in accounting.
