This review is from: Crc Freeze-Off Super Penetrant (Automotive)
I was trying to remove the lower and upper pins and bolt from the hydraulic tilt unit on a 1994 outboard. The outboard of course is aluminum and the pin and bolt is stainless, they were seized and wouldn't move. I tried heat along with hammer and brass bar with no luck,at the same time I was applying four different penetrating oil and SUPER Duper penetrating oils,I would walk off and leave for days,no luck. I went online looking for ways another suggestion or advise from anyone and found an article that suggested using CRC FREEZE OFF PENETRATING OIL so I ordered two cans followed the instructions on the can and IT WORKED,I tried the lower pin first because it was the easiest to get to,I sprayed the two aluminum parts on each end that the stainless 11" rod passed through and left it for 15 minutes or so,came back and struck the bolt with the same technique as before and it moved,it eventually came out and I was very happy.
The top pin was more aggravating because of its location but by using CRC FREEZE OFF and a tool designed for removing the 5" X 5/8 pin along with a little tapping from the opposite end,I prevailed. I will say that without finding out about and using CRC FREEZE OFF I really don't know what I would have done because I tried every other way that I had used in the past, couldn't have done it without FREEZE OFF without damaging the aluminum parts. It was also priced less than some of the other penetrating oils that I used, it was the FREEZE OFF allowing the metal to contract and letting the oil seep in to work. I do not work for CRC but I have suggested to several auto parts stores to stock it and have told numerous other shade tree or home mechanics about the product.
