Product Description

From Amazon.com

A no-brainer that has become a low-brow classic, this 1980 comedy makes anarchy the rule of the day, unleashing the antics of Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, and Chevy Chase. Caddyshack is about the scheme of a vulgar land developer (Dangerfield) who wants to build condominiums on the site of a ritzy country club. Director Harold Ramis (who later reunited with Murray to make Groundhog Day) is content to let the comedy follow a variety of wacky detours, most notably Murray's maniacal war with a gopher that has been digging up the golf course. Dangerfield ultimately steals the show, firing off a battery of one-liners, insults, and tasteless gags. Caddyshack is the kind of movie some people have been known to watch several times a year, reciting every line of dialogue like the followers of a bizarre comedic ritual. --Jeff Shannon

Additional Features

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Funny..., Oct 22 2002
By
THE MASTER (New York, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Caddyshack: 20th Anniversary Edition (Widescreen) (DVD)
I don't know why this film is considered a such a classic comedy, especially considering that it was released in the same year as the single greatest film comedy of all time, "Airplane!".

Caddyshack has some funny moments, basicley Rodney dangerfield's all to brief appearences, but that's not enough to carry a whole movie. The biggest mistake in this piece of ... was focusing on the kid (Danny, I think) instead of Dangerfiled. Still Dangerfield is always a joy to watch and there is this one hot scene with Ted Knights ... daughter that's pretty good, but for pure laughs I just can't recommend it. Watch "Airplane" instead.

This review is from: Caddyshack: 20th Anniversary Edition (Widescreen) (DVD)
i had hear a lot about how great this movie is,over the years.so
imagine my shock and disappointment to find out it's not good.i didn't
find it funny,or amusing,or even entertaining.i swear i never even
smiled once.i realise this is just my opinion of course, but i just
can't get over how people rave about this movie.it boggles the
mind.anyway, for whatever reason,i didn't think this was a good movie at
all.in fact,it's brutal.there are some big comedy names of the era in
this one,so you'd think that would count for something.but it doesn't
seem to,at least in my opinion.i'm sure i'm in the minority, but my vote
for Caddyshack is a dismal 1/5

4.0 out of 5 stars Belly laugh city, July 18 2004
This review is from: Caddyshack: 20th Anniversary Edition (Widescreen) (DVD)
Just when I thought I couldn't watch the rest of the movie, a hysteric comedic scene or line brought me out of it. Rodney is unforgettable. When this one shakes out, some of the funniest stuff ever (so bad it's good).
