Product Description

Picture the hijinks on the links in Caddyshack and you'll likely hear Kenny Loggins' I'm Alright in your head. There was music all through that 1980 comedy, and it's here on CD for the first time: that Loggins tune and three more plus Any Way You Want It Journey; There She Goes Beat; Something on Your Mind Hilly Michaels, and more. Limited to 3500 copies!

Finally!!!! i had to hunt for the record of this album for years til i finally found it,i was elated. i still tried to find a cd version of it,but gave up. now it seems..ten years later,my dream came true. i had also loved 80's movie soundtracks..i had to search for the phil collins soundtrack to "Buster" and the Halloween III soundtrack also. that soundtrack i found here on Amazon on cd and got it in a flash. luckily my brain worked quick enough to try a search for Caddyshack and i was in disbelief to find it was here. one night, there were 5 left and by next morning when i ordered it,there were when i say luckily: thats why.
As for the music...'im alright' of course is a classic now,and mr night was from a previous kenny loggins album. 'Lead The Way' is sweet and short enough, while 'Make The Movie' feels like the 2nd half on 'im alright'..indeed,listen to the Caddyshack opening credits to see how they spliced it together. Journey contributed their song 'anyway you want it' which is nice, and i suppose 'There She Goes' isnt bad. But the two weakest tracks for me are 'Divine Intervention' and 'Something on your mind'. the first is uninteresting and the latter gets quickly annoying. however, johnny mandel scores with 'marina' and 'the big bang'.
As soundtracks go,its a little lacking, but there's enough included for a kenny loggins or caddyshack fan to add this album to their collection. i mean its such an awesome movie...wouldnt you even buy spalding's gym socks if they were released? your darn right. SPALDING! many times have i spoken to you about your language?
..sorry grandpa,i forgot.

Why is this out of stock? This was Kenny Loggins first major foray into the world of film soundtracks. Not only is there the catchy "I'm Alright" theme (with an uncredited Eddie Money in the background) but three other little known tunes from Loggins (one lifted from his albumKeep the Fire And also one from Journey! Maybe in 2010, Loggins will reissue it with some bonus material like "I'm Alright- The Gopher Mix!" (j/k)
For those of you who loved his 1980s soundtracks this was just the beginning...

Best movie ever made...for golfers and non-golfers and country club types . A classic that still surprises even 28 years after its release . Listen to any group of guys and you are bound to hear a Caddyshack quote or two !

Too loud! April 28 2011

Although this is a welcome reissue, with some good artwork and liner notes, it has been remastered with too many decibels. What was once a pleasing 'middle-of-the-road' 80s soundtrack has suffered in the hands of the modern mastering process. No dynamics here, just an assault on the ears. Rip yourself a copy from the original vinyl - it will be much easier listening!
