Best ska comp I can think of Jan. 25 2006

This would have been 5 stars except there are 2 tracks that I don't like. First of all it seems that just about every ska comp's goal was to fillt he disc up with ska bands, not good ska bands, just ska bands. This comp focused on quality not quantity, or just totally lucked out with the result being a completely listenable disc. The two tracks i don't care for are actually, the No Doubt track, not bad but so so. The other is The Los Rudiments track. I had bought lots of ska comps and bands' full CDs between the years of 1996 and 1999 till I finally realized that most of it was just crap. Old school was the way to go. As far as 3rd wave, this is the best of the comps (as far as memory serves at this point and time).
Pretty good Nov. 8 2006

I bought this CD for one song and one song only, The Gangbusters "Bad Attitude" (which Unsteady has covered on a few comps.) It brings back many highschool memories. If you like ska that song has a great beat, and it's fun to sing & dance too. There are a few other good songs as well, but I wouldn't say it's the best collection of tracks on one disc. Other notable tracks are Hepcat, Skankin Pickle, and Upbeats. For me "Bad Attitude" gets 5 stars, and the rest of the disc gets 3.

Grew up in So Cal during the 2nd wave Ska revolution. Saw No Doubt at several small venues along with the rest of these bands. Met most of the musicians. GREAT ALBUM NOT TO BE MISSED!!! Martians Can't Skank is still one of my favorites.
Not too shabby Sept. 28 2003

The album's ok. Dance Hall Crashers are always great. And Skankin' Pickle makes fun music. The LGB track is snazzy. And, there's an early No Doubt track that serious fans will want. Overall, an ok comp album.
