Hooked from the beginning!,

As soon as I started reading this novel, I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting. I highly recommend this book...frequently uses British slang, though.

On the surface, "Calling Romeo," by Alexandra Potter appears to be your typical, good, British "chick lit." Until the end. At that point, Potter ties everything together and offers the reader some very profound insights.Juliet has an advertising career that has potential, a great best friend, and a live-in boyfriend, whom she loves and feels comfortable with. Her life begins to change, however, when a handsome and rich rivel in the advertising world wants to date her. She is not the type to be tempted, but she has ceased to feel special in the relationship that she is in. The decisions that she makes (and their consequences) make for an excellent novel. The only problem that I encountered was with the frequent British words, which differed from American - as well as some of the British slang. ( I didn't have a CLUE what a "pac-a-mac" was until I looked it up on the web...) It would be great to have a "dictionary" of British terms that are used in the back. I thought the title, "Calling Romeo" was so good when used in the context of the story. Very sweet. The cover design by Jaime Putorti was exceptionally great as well. A reoccurring thought that I had while reading "Calling Romeo" was how often women are inclined to settle for less than they deserve. It was so refreshing to witness Alexander Potter's take on this as well. I learned so much from this novel. I especially admire Alexandra Potter for sharing her own personal history at the end of this book. It took guts.

This is the third book by this author and I have read every one of them and they just get better every time. Her books are lighthearted, funny and very true to life. Her descriptions of the characters are vivid and endear themselves to you. If you have ever been in any of the situations, you can easily empathise. Am looking forward to reading the latest book DO YOU COME HERE OFTEN? which I understand is out in the UK next month so it will be first on my list when I visit in the summer!
