Book Description

Sept. 30 2006
For the last twenty years, Dr. Amanda Beckner has been decoding the unique language of our bodies. She has amassed volumes of research on the interactions between diet, nutrition and attitude. In the course of her work, she has helped thousands of clients fight off the debilitating effects of diabetes, cancer and other diseases. Many of her clients have even reversed the course of existing illness. Her book, Your Body Code: Personal Nutrition Wellness Program, is a compilation of this exhaustive work. Most ‘diet’ programs do little more than achieve a quick weight loss that most people gain back as soon as they finish the program. Few programs center their attention on the vital changes in lifestyle attitude (i.e., changing what we eat and daily activity) that Dr. Beckner and other wellness experts agree are necessary for sustained weight loss and increased wellness. Dr. Beckner’s Your Body Code program adds focus on the dietary and nutritional forces outside the body that can influence the way genetic DNA acts inside the body. She redefines the well-known acronym “DNA” as Diet, Nutrition and Attitude as three key components in her program to achieve three main wellness goals: gain muscle mass, lose excess body fat weight, and augment our body?s natural ability to repair damage and fight the genetic traits that lead to disease. Your Body Code explores Beckner’s personal experiences, discoveries and her distinctive insights on better health and longevity. Readers will find descriptions of vitamins, minerals and the common imbalances that could affect health and wellness. The book contains 11, seven-day menus that address a variety of disease and health conditions along with a cookbook with more than 50 ‘chef-tested’ healthy recipes. The book includes more than 40 client testimonials and personal stories designed to inspire readers to take control of their wellness outcomes. The greatest surprise that most readers will find is in realizing how much control they really have over disease.

The Calorie King book is one of my favorites. I love its small size and accurate information. It is a definite part of my weight loss program. The journal is very helpful and I like the way it fits with my other calorie information. So keep up the great work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book By Far! July 5 2007
By L. Abair - Published on Amazon.com
I saw the book on the calorieking.com website and figured I'd give it a chance. I'd used spreadsheets in the past to keep track of calorie intakes but you don't often eat your meals at a computer so it was hard to remember to input everything I ate. This book is small so it goes everywhere with me, its easy to use and comes with instructions, helpful dieting tips, weekly overviews and a graph at the end to track your progress. I've been using it for just over 2 weeks now and have lost about 6lbs! Each day has its own page to track your calories eaten, calories burned during exercise, fat intake, glasses of water drank, and steps. There is also an optional carb/protein column if you are on a specific type of diet. I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to loose weight. It keeps you accountable for what you put in your mouth and helps you manage how much you eat versus how much you work out.

OH and one last thing, the last 4 pages or so gives you the calories and fat found in many common foods, so if you don't have the nutrition information available for you you can look it up in your book. The nutrition information section also features a page for fast food including mc donalds, wendys, subway and pizza hut among others.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderfully EASY journal March 8 2007
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
I've used many journals as I go through my weight loss journey. This one is by far the easiest to use and REMEMBER to use. It is concise and to the point. The size is also convenient. It fits in your purse or on your desk with no problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for quick and convenient Aug. 12 2007
By NikkiD - Published on Amazon.com
I loved this item! I ordered a sample to try out on some of my clients who were new to logging in food journals, and they love it. It's small enough to carry around in a purse, but has enough room for the basics--what you ate, when, even carbs, fat, and water intake. If your looking for something more in depth (why you ate, etc), this doesn't have enough room. I found it very affordable and useful!

3.0 out of 5 stars Just a notebook March 3 2008
By A. Jackson - Published on Amazon.com

I like the tips inside of this book, however, the pages to record things on are small, hard to write in it for me. I use Calorie King's calorie counting book almost daily. A personal journal works just as well for me.
