This is better than the CamelBak Podium Chill Bottle July 9 2011

I just went for a bike ride. I have CamelBak Podium Chill Bottle & just bought the Podium Ice bottle.
It was 92 degrees outside and I bought a big jug of water and put the same amount into each bottle.
2 hrs later, the Podium ice was colder than the Podium chill.
A great product.

Only one small complaint July 16 2011

I own two pair of these podium ice bottles. Prior to these I owned polar bottles. The ice bottles do keep items cooler a little longer than the polar bottles. Probably not enough to warrant the premium price. The lids on the polar bottles are the old style pull outs. What I found with those is that the moving part would become loose, so you open the bottle with your teeth and it would slide back shut. So I would throw away bottles because of the lids. I like this spout better. I think it has lasted longer. So when you add the little bit cooler, the better lid and the longevity, I think that they are worth the money. They are top rack dishwasher safe.

My complaint? Out of the box they are slicker than snot. You won't notice it until you get out on the road and you try and pull them from a cage with a sweaty hand. I sent a letter to CamelBak and got a nice canned response back. So I created my own solution. Take a little sand paper to the top 1/5th of the bottle. Don't go crazy, you are just looking to rough up the surface a little bit. You will be happy you did, or curse the fact you didn't when you have to turn around to get the water bottle you just dropped.

One other tip. When your water bottles start getting "the funk", let them soak over night with a denture tablet. Then run it through the dishwasher.

Perfect for longer rides Jan. 28 2011

The CamelBack Podium Ice Bottle is great for keeping your water or whatever else you choose to put in it before a long bike ride colder longer. I ride 60 to 80 miles for longer trips and take this one with me. Granted, it does not stay ice cold the entire time but when it is really hot and you have to have that cold fluid, the Ice Bottle from CamelBak is excellent. I do carry more than one bottle with me but only own one Ice bottle. Worth the money.

Pricey but worth every penny June 22 2015

I've used the Polar insulated bottles for a few years. I'd fill them with crushed ice and ice cold water and after a few hours all the ice in my second bottle would be gone and the water would be cool but not cold.

After getting these bottles I followed the same procedure: fill with crushed ice and cold water. After 2 hours there was still a large chunk of ice in the Camelbak bottle and the water was ice cold. I drank all the water and refilled with room temp water and there was enough ice to bring the temp down of the new water.

Very impressed. Great insulation!
