Product Description

From Amazon.com

The Hollywood concept shorthand for Todd Graff's semi-autobiographical musical comedy may be Fame-meets-Meatballs, but the film (nominated for the Grand Jury prize at the '03 Sundance Film Festival) has an energetic musical heart all its own. The original songs of Michael Gore (the original Fame) and Lynn Ahrens (Schoolhouse Rock, the Broadway adaptation of Ragtime) revolve around poles of upbeat gospel fervor ("Here's Where I Stand," "How Shall I See You Through My Tears") and introspective ballads ("I Sing For You"), while the score's choice of covers initially echo those concerns via Todd Rundgren's "The Want of a Nail" and the Stones' "Wild Horses," respectively. But the teen-voiced covers of Sondheim's middle-age missive "The Ladies Who Lunch" and Bacharach/David's loopy "Turkey Lurkey Time" also underscore its youthful sense of anything-goes abandon. The pop songs that round out the collection are a well-chosen and emotionally sympatico lot, especially the Replacements' "Skyway", the Wonder Stuff's "The Size of a Cow" and even Warren Wiebe's weepy ballad "I Believe in Us." This enhanced CD features include behind the scenes footage, film trailer, cast photos, and bios. --Jerry McCulley

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm Still Singing These Songs . . ., July 14 2004

This review is from: Camp (Audio CD)
I fell in love with "Camp" on DVD and subsequently bought the soundtrack. Without the visual part of the film, I get to concentrate even more on how amazing the voices of the cast are. I don't really know why any of the tracks past eight are included--I haven't listened to one of them.

My Favorites:
1. "How Shall I See You through My Tears"
3. "Here's Where I Stand"
5. "Want of a Nail"
7. "Ladies Who Lunch"
8. "Turkey Lurkey Time"

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, Jun 18 2004

WOW! This is a great album, esepically if you're into musical theater. It makes me want to be on Broadway right now. The third track is very very moving of you listen to what she is saying, very powerful. The rest of the songs are all fantastic and reflect the movie, which was also amazing. If you get a chance buy this CD and the movie. They are worth every dime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome movie...and soundtrack!, Jun 6 2004
By
This review is from: Camp (Audio CD)
The movie is awesome. It's not well known, but it's a great movie, and you'll definetly appreciate it if you're into muscial theater. The soundtrack is just as great. Sasha Allen has a wonderful voice, and it brings chills down your spine just to listen to her. There are lots of talented people in the movie, and it shows on the soundtrack
