Product Description

Album Description

I can wonder what you did with your day' is the latest (and greatest!) Album from acclaimed canadian indie rocker julie doiron. An artist who continually attracts a positive critical response, doiron sings bare open songs about her life, activities and musings, and has established a dedicated following. Her rich solo career was preceded by an equally admired one with indie rock group eric's trip. The new album is simple, deep and intimate. Sonically, it's sparse but has a strong small-band aesthetic, doiron joined by recent collaborator fred squire on drums and eric's trip bassist rick white.

5.0 out of 5 stars A return to her roots., Sep 13 2009

This review is from: I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day (Audio CD)
This is the best Doiron solo album, and (perhaps not coincidentally) it's also the Doiron album that sounds most like her former band, Eric's Trip.

I was a fan of Eric's Trip back in their heyday, and I learned only a couple weeks ago about Doiron's solo albums. Since then, I've gone through her entire back catalogue. Each album is discernibly different from the others. Some are stripped-down, primarly acoustic works that were literally recorded in one day. Some are lush with production. One album features mostly French vocals.

This album stands head and shoulders above all the others. The album is perfectly balanced between loud songs and quiet songs. The loud, distorted guitars that were part of Eric's Trip's signature sound are back on several of the songs; the instrumentation is rough as ever around the edges, even while the production is stellar; and every single song is solid and beautiful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine effort from Julie Doiron, May 19 2009

Shades of Sarah Harmer, shades of The Breeders, a bit of 90's sounds, a bit of 00's sound. I really liked this CD. The songs are well written and the songs are well produced.
