Wick is amazing!,
By
This review is from: Can You See What I See? On A Scary Scary Night: Picture Puzzles to Search and Solve (Hardcover)
This book contains 23 pages of great picture puzzles, and items to find and solve. The books in this series are a family favorite. My children love looking through the pictures and finding the items in question, or solving the puzzles. Wick, the co-creator of the I Spy books, has a knack for visual narrative. In this book, he retells the tale of In A Dark Dark Wood, across 12 picture narratives with one picture zoomed into 8 times its original size for details. He begins with a castle on a hill and proceeds until we are through the castle and in a potion bottle. The dark imagery is fun to explore with children and is a book they will go back to again and again. The progression in this story is:On A Scary Scary Night Beneath A Scary Scary Moon In A Scary Scary Town On A Scary Scary Street Atop a Scary Scary Hill In A Scary Scary Castle Up Scary Scary Stairs In A Scary Scary Tower In A Scary Scary Cupborard On A Scary Scary Shelf In A Scary Scary Bottle There Was A Ghost! This book is full of amazing illustrations and story, tying them together, sure to entertain the young and young at heart.

Stunning Visuals, Variation on a Classic,

This is my #1 choice for the new Halloween books released in 2008 feature on my blog at thirteenforhalloween.comOK. Absolutely awesome!!! This book is so, so cool. From the photographer of the I SPY series. They built a set worthy of a full-scale stop animation film like "Nightmare before Christmas" and then photographed it for the images in this book. It is so amazingly detailed. The story concept is taken from the well-known "In a dark, dark wood" classic. You start far away from this incredible castle, work your way through the village, inside and up the top most room where there is a cabinet and on a shelf of that cabinet is a bottle and in the bottle is a . . . well, you just have to see it. Did I say it was amazing? It absolutely knocked my socks off. Dixie (my 1st grade teaching wife) and I look at every new Halloween book we can find, and we both agree, this is the cream of the 2008 Halloween releases for kids. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

As with other Wick "Can you see what I see" series books, this one is excellent. Wonderful illustrations and well hidden objects can keep an adult, a 4yr old or 6yr old amused for hours! And then after you find it for the first time, you forget where it's hidden and have to do this over again. Also, we enjoy the written story (it's so well done)!!! Highly recommend these books from Wick.
