5.0 out of 5 stars The Exquisite Sound of Mantovani Sept. 14 2002
Format:Audio CD
This is a Vocalian re-release of two of the most elegant and exquisite LPs recorded by the original Mantovani Orchestra in the 1950's. All of the hallmarks of the Mantovani sound were launched in these early recordings of the large orchestra that made Mantovani a household name. Seven of the tracks were written by Mantovani including the title melody Candlelight, a truly remarkable orchestration. The Gold and Silver Waltz became a mainstay of many Mantovani's concert appearances and it, along with Song of Sorrento and Spring in Montmartre are soaring arrangements that will absolutely delight those already enamoured to the lushness of his music. Begin the Beguine will delight old and new listeners as well. Capture the essence of Mantovani's musical genius by acquiring this collection of outstanding music.

5.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable music to listen to Feb. 3 2014

Gave to husband for his birthday. It's pretty much impossible to find these types of CD's at the local best buy or book stores. It's the kind of music we enjoy listening to on our Sirius radio in our car. My husband wanted something like this put on his IPod and for listening in his truck while driving around town versus the other so called music channels. When shopping on Amazon for CD's , I liked that you could listen to samples of the songs on the CD. I listened to several different CD's and thought he'd like this one. He is really enjoying it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A DEFLATED BALLOON Dec 7 2012
By belpanettone - Published on Amazon.com

A big disappointment for me. After favorable even excited reviews I had read on Amazon, the presentation, the label Vocalion/Decca Music Group I had great expectations. Instead I found too many "flat" titles and too little of that "sweeping violins" touch I've always loved about Mantovani and his orchestra.
