I have not purchased this book and am not likely to, but discovered it as I was searching for books on canoeing in Utah and canoeing in general. Having stood many times and taken photos (one which graces my desktop as I write this) close to this very spot, I am dismayed to see beautiful Mt. Shuksan, near the Mt. Baker Ski Area in Washington State, on the cover of a book about canoeing in British Columbia, Canada.
The lake on which these two people are paddling is Picture Lake and it is a very small lake with no outlet. The writer and publisher of this book should be ashamed they did not choose a photo from a navigable water in Beautiful B.C., of which I am sure there are many, eh?
But, then, Mt. Shuksan (one of the most photographed mountains in the world) has substituted for the hills of Pennsylvania in "The Deer Hunter", been a place where one should find "the pines" (were there are no pines) in one of the many vehicle commercials filmed at Mt. Baker Ski Area, and on a souvenir sweatshirt for Colorado.
