I was conned by a shady dealer into thinking this model is HD. It's NOT. Get the HS-R200 model instead - it's HD and has a touchscreen, and at the moment of this writing, it's only $50 more.

This camera is exactly what it said it would be, remember people its a $200 to $300 camera (depending on the sale price) anybody reading complaints/reviews needs to remember that- you get what you pay for, its NOT a professional camera and was never promised as one! Its a great camera for family videos, its standard def recording in a digital format NOT HD. It shoots good video and the lens is great it zooms in extremily close, the image stabilization is great for those of us with less than steady hands, the camera is light so your hand does shake a little, the image stabilization takes care of that.The battery life is pretty long and the camera is very easy to use. The editing software is also pretty good and easy to use. This is one of the few cameras I found with flash memory only and no touchscreen, both are a bonus to me because I had a touchscreen die on me and an external hard drive fail- making the camera useless. I would definatly recommend this to family (which i already have) and friends. Its worth the money, just remember what your buying!

The Canon FS400 is a very good and easy to operate camcorder. Quality could be a bit crisper, but otherwise for the price the quality is very good. I would recommend this.
