Product Description

Product Description

This third instalment in the spectacular Legends Series celebrates Western Canada's first NHL franchise, the Vancouver Canucks. Full of glorious photos and engaging stories, Canucks Legends chronicles the first four decades of the franchise--from a young expansion team, to the Canucks' current place among hockey's elite, on the verge of bringing the first Stanley Cup to Vancouver. The Canucks come to life through 75 player profiles--Orland Kurtenbach, Stan Smyl, Richard Brodeur, Cam Neely, Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund, Todd Bertuzzi and many others--and over 300 historic and contemporary photos. With guest essays by journalists Archie McDonald, Tony Gallagher, Iain MacIntyre and Kevin Woodley, this book is a must-have for every Canucks fan and hockey historian.

3.0 out of 5 stars where are the pre-NHL legends?, Jan 3 2011

This review is from: Canucks Legends: Vancouver's Hockey Heroes (Hardcover)
Now it's not a perfect book but it is decent given the Canucks in their NHL history have few legendary players. This is mainly due to the fact the franchise has been very mediocre for much of its life.

I would have liked to see homage paid to the old WHL Canucks even if it was a few token pages so I could read about guys like Phil Maloney (pre-NHL Canuck GM-coach) and Andy Bathgate. Those guys are true Canuck legends.

The photos are first-rate and pretty much the only "history" book that's ever come out on the Canucks, it's a nice primer. I think the main thing that may cause some contention is the choice of so-called "legends."

I'd also say this is more a book for the casual Canuck fan rather than the hardcore as there's not enough meat in the articles to fuel player debates.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any and every Canucks Fan!, Jan 22 2008

I have been a Canucks fan since I was seven years old and I am now 25 yrs old and a greater canuck fan than ever before. I have been waiting for a book like this for over a decade. From the origins of Hockey in British Columbia to the Legacy we have now. I think no one that could have been more fit to write this book than himself Trevor Linden.

LOVE THE BOOK. RECIEVED INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEAM THAT I DID NOT KNOW.
I HATE THAT SOME PAGES THAT HAVE WORDS WRITTEN ON THEM HAVE A DARK COLORING AS A BACKGROUND. HARD TO PICK UP THE WORDS ON THOSE PAGES
