Bought this with no problems whatsoever with it being small, that's what we wanted for a smaller teenager and our tight space. The size is perfect. But this was designed no doubt by people who have never worked weights before. The Epic Fail = this "bench" cannot be used for bench presses, because the bar comes down on the side arms of the butterfly pad attachments, which are permanent and held up by permanent pegs. In our arrangement (5' bar), the bar plates themselves hit the butterfly pads causing great danger. With a wider bar, the bar itself will land on the butterfly pads well before you are at the bottom of your motion. If you slide way down the bench, you can clear the butterfly pads, but if you are big enough to do so, this bench is way too small and your butt is off the end, and if you are the right size, then you can no longer safely reach the bar rests to return the bar at the end of your reps because the bar is too far forward of the high posts. Inclining the bench makes it worse, you need to go even further forward with your body to clear the bar. This is a critically dangerous situation that I hope most intelligent folks would recognize right away and not even try to bench with this thing. Should also add that the butterfly is not sized down the way everything else is, so the pads are not in the right place for a smaller person, but you can still do butterflys, just feels a bit different.
Other notes... the construction of this is very suspect, minimally structurally integrity, it shifts around on its pressure fit feet, and the whole thing feels ready to fall if an adult gets on it. Several pieces are not square and the posts are 5+ degrees from vertical in the wrong direction. But again, since this was for a teenager who does not lift much weight, I think it could serve construction wise a few years, and at any rate what would you expect at this price anyway? But to be sure, it's not what is in the main Amazon photo (grey), it's what's in the second photo (black), and it doesn't have round sections as advertised and shown in photo 1, it's primarily square construction. We have also built out the Muscle Inc. FM-6121, for $30 more, the FM-6121 is 10 times the quality of this bench, much better construction... however, it is a full size bench for an adult and it takes up a good bit more space and requires a long bar.
If space is not an issue, buy a bigger bench. Unless you don't care about bench press, look away now.
