I am a French woman and as everybody does here in France, I know the song "Travailler c'est trop dur"! But unlike others (French) peoples I didn't know that much about his author, Zachary Richard.

Son disque le plus fort June 5 2006
By M. Hartman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is Zach's finest effort to date. Zachary Richard's music is probably best described as Americana-Francais. This album reveals an influence by the Americana sound of bands like the Jayhawks and Graham Parsons. Little wonder as much of Zach's early work in the 1970's was in a folk/country/cajun/soul vein. The sound is based in roots music (blues, country, folk, Waltzs cadiennes, etc.,) but is ultimately its own unique thing. Zach's singing is in top form and has a soulful quality that really stands out...and I'm talking about about vintage Stax/Volt type soul of Otis Redding and Carla Thomas here, not the current stuff. The only reason Zach is not better known is that he sings in French. If there is a definitve sound of the French-speaking United States, this is it. Zachary Richard is a national treasure and this is his most fully formed collection of songs. C'est vraiement merveilleux! Allez!
many hours of appreciation and joy singing my head off in French Oct. 4 2014

What can I say… I am learning French because of this his music. I have never been so drawn to an artist, in any genre, that has affected me so strongly as to learn another language.

Along with his musical talent, his environmental activism makes me feel that I have been introduced to a very special kinda guy that what a treat it would be to see him in person. His fellow musicians are also very, very talented and together they have provided me with many, many hours of appreciation and joy singing my head off in French.

I can't speak a word of French but you don't need to to enjoy the songs. Great playing, singing and melodies . One of Zachary Richard's best.
