Boring and uninspired,

I bought this DVD with the hopes that I would get some cardio benefit along with pilates strength training. I was very disappointed. The first 30 minutes are just mat pilates, very standard with not enough repitions and no creativity. The next 15 minutes is the 'cardio' component, which gets you off the mat and involves a series of marching on the spot, side toe taps, and lunges, one after the other sequentially. It gets *very* boring after about 5 minutes and there are no motivating moves added to mix-it up. Besides being mundane, the cardio component barely got my heart-rate up. I feel there was no thought put into the production of this routine, in fact I could have put the routine together on the spot and made it more fun. Not worth buying at all.

This DVD offers an inviting backdrop, excellent timing and transitions between exercises. It gives a great 40-minute Pilates routine that differs slightly from others that I have used, with many of the traditional exercises and some less common ones that adds a little variety. The title says Cardio Pilates, but I feel that is dependant upon your over-all fitness level and experience with Pilates. I jog regularly and perform Pilates frequently and didn't find my heart elevated for some of the DVD, but still feel like I got a great workout. If you're looking for a feel good work out and some Pilates variety, I strongly suggest giving this one a go!

Easy Cardio + Pilates,

I have a few Ana Caban Pilates DVD's and I find her easy to follow and the work-out's to be effective. I got this DVD some time ago and I think having the two elements together in one work out is great! The first 30 minutes is a regular pilates mat work out and the second 15/20 minutes is a simple cardio work-out. It's nothing fancy but it gets the job done! I usually follow it up with another 20 - 30 minutes of cardio on a teadmill. If you're into Pilates, I think it would be a good addition to your collection.
