5.0 out of 5 stars Pulling you in ... softly May 18 2012
Format:Paperback
This good friend I've never met writes words that reach out and pull me in. Heather Grace Stewart is an amazing poetess. Carry On Dancing wrung emotions from me that I was sure were long buried - tied to events long over and I thought, forgotten. They weren't.

In her Introduction to the book she says, "This is a promise to myself to stop and take good notice of something, or someone in my life, every day." And then she issues her invitation, "I hope you'll join me on my small adventure." There's nothing small at all about the adventure that is "Carry On Dancing".

Heather's family is a constant source of inspiration to her. "She Drew Me a Sky" helped me, however briefly, to feel my father's work-hardened hand on my shoulder one more time.

"Mommy," she said,
"let me show you
what I think souls look like."
....
"If you're quiet, though,
some days --- some days,
you can feel them."

And I did.

This is a must read anthology of poetry for today.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Wonderful Collection, So Truly Heather... April 15 2012
By Nicole - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The thing I liked best about this collection was that as a follower of her blog, Where The Butterflies Go I got to see a lovely mix of old poems and prose and new pieces I hadnt read before.
The variety is perfect, some biting short pieces, some longer political strophes and "lifeprose".
You can feel the pulse of this poet, the strong life in her pieces...
In All the Things, I got my first set of chills,"It's no surprise/the tide's come in,/ yet we're still wading". Pregnant with her style, this starts the reader off on such a reality based faith in light after dark...
Admittedly, I love short burst poems and Heather delivers these, salty sweet,in her graceful nature-oriented style. In Crazy Lovely World, "crazy lovely world/razor sharp icicle swords/change a loving sky".
My absolute favorites are Winter Love "I am your bough;/ I will not break." And To The Sea, "Our work can wait/a day or more;/for the sea, and sand, and ocean floor."
These are fearless, sassy, smart, aware, community/life based poems.
Definetly worth the buy...
Next book when? :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern Poems that Speak of a Soft Elegance April 15 2012
By Rebecca of Amazon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Heather Grace Stewart's poems speak of a soft elegance. A lot of her poems have a comforting rhythm and deal with the realities of life. She speaks of many topics like social media, cancer, snow, the sea, flowers, children, libraries and gardening. Throughout the book there are artistic pictures. This book is meaningful because it uncovers hidden joys in everyday pleasures. You will look at the world differently after reading these poems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carry On Dancing Mar 31 2012
By Larry H. Leitner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This new collection from Heather Grace Stewart again reflects the author's ability to see what is going on around her and to comment on it in poetry. Tears of joy and tears of sadness are very much in evidence as you read through this book. It is a more mature Heather Grace Stewart that we find here. While not as lighthearted as her previous collections, she still takes you on a rollercoaster from laughter to tears and back again. We read about how we need to hold onto the important things in life. Keep those we love close to our heart and not let the modern world interfere. This book will leave you with a warm feeling. This I can assure you.
