I have had this watch since December of 2010.

It has provided accurate time and with the timer in it, it has done what I wanted it to do quite admirably.

The battery needs to be changed about every 15 months or so, which is not bad at all.

I now need to replace the watch strap and the cost for that is $32.00 plus tax, so at the $50 price-range, it might be just as easy to buy a new watch when the strap needs replacing.

Timer for the BBQ 2 minutes rotate 2 minutes turn over 2 minutes rotate 2 minutes and perfect cross grill marks on perfect steaks. Compass I've used coming out of shopping malls and such and even in the local woods a few times. The alarm on occasion I've used. The best feature is numbers can be read easily at night. My strap broke and a new strap is $20 so I ordered a new watch instead. Then I managed to fashion a band from velcro so I'll have two! I like the watch so much I gave my gardener one for Christmas. He was particularly pleased that I gave him the same one I wear.

I like this watch much better than the G Shock that I used to have. Even though the manual says that measurements produced by this watch are only "reasonably accurate representations", the compass seems to be quite accurate and so is the time function. I just wish that the compass readings would last longer than 10 seconds. As the manual states, the thermometer is affected by body temperature and the watch must be removed from your wrist for accurate temperature readings. I have worn this watch while scuba diving at a depth of 110 feet and it worked perfectly. I thought that Amazon's price was the lowest, but after purchasing it, I found it at another on-line store for 3 or 4 dollars less (not a big deal).

I bought this watch for when I travel on vacation. I'm old school and prefer having a compass and a paper map over a GPS device. It's also nice to tell the temperature. But to be perfectly honest, I rarely use the temperature sensor. Having a watch with an alarm is a good backup in case my primary alarm clock fails to wake me when I need to catch my morning flight. The nylon wrist strap that comes with this watch is much nicer and more durable than the plastic strap versions, which has a tendency to tear and break. I've had several Casio watches over the years and I've never been disappointed. The price was also a major factor, especially when traveling Europe on a budget.

I bought this as my watch for recreational scuba diving - works great and has all the functions needed. I've taken down to 75' with no problems. I am very happy with it.

Perhaps I'm too old for this watch. The main problem was that it's too large and it constantly got tangled with my shirt's cuff or my jacket, and it was usually hard to see the time. As some other reviewer mentioned, you have to look at the watch at a very close to perpendicular angle to actually be able to see it; otherwise all the numbers look like zeros. The watch has a number of nice features, but the question is whether you actually need them or not. I ended up using too few of those features, like a compass, a thermometer (that works properly only after lots of calibration and if it's off your wrist), world time, etc. For me, the most useful features were the light, which makes the time very comfortably visible at night; and the date. The best feature is how big the time numbers are. That is very nice indeed. So, if you are on the younger end of the age spectrum and engage in lots of outdoors activity, this watch may be good for you. It's supposed to support up to 300 ft. below water.

Robust. Utilitarian. Compass. It's what I wanted and exactly what I got. I wouldn't timber cruise with the compass function but it's enough to generally orient yourself.

This is my second Casio watch of this model. The first one is still working, however, the strap broke and i couldn't find a replacement strap (strange??)... So, bought a new watch. I especially like how the crystal (or plastic, whatever it is) is receded... prevents the watch face from getting all scratched. Wear this watch playing sports, in the water, everywhere i'm active - hockey, tennis, windsurfing, pool, shower... it takes a licking and keeps on ticking...
