The only reason for my love of this soundtrack is the haunting piano 'chorus' that appears throughout the movie... That alone makes it worth the listening. The movie is good too because of the origional story they chose instead of some pukey cartoon storyline. And the voice acting for the ghosts isn't even that bad. There's a guy from Monty Python in it too. Success!

The first great reason why this soundtrack is superb is that it's the music from Universal's classic 1995 movie and NOT Warner Bros'. ridiculous sequels (if I see "A Spirited Beginning" or "Casper Meets Wendy" one more time I'm going to puke)!
The second great reason is that it's haunting... yet so sweet... I mean look around! This album got 5 stars! I agree with these people! "Pictures in my head, haunting, great music" true true... If you havn't seen the movie GET IT (not the sequels! Oh boy are those bad) because it contains this music as well. Track 4 makes me, literally, jump out of my seat listening to it! Little Richard did a good performance singing the Casper song and the love song is... good I guess. But the main reason to get this is simple: The music is so haunting! It makes me think I'm in a haunted house surrounded by 3 crazy ghosts. Anyway this is a superb soundtrack, and if you see a copy of this get it because it's getting pretty rare...

I never would have expected a cheesy children's movie to have great music, but Casper totally surprised me. I purchased this soundtrack because I loved the movie, although I was a bit disappointed. Most of the songs on the CD aren't that great for stand-alone listening. If you're a film score buff like me, then you'll be appalled by "Remember Me This Way" and the "Casper the Friendly Ghost" theme. However, I suppose some people may find the vocal ballad moving, and the Casper theme song is kind of cute (in a very ugly way). The best part of the soundtrack is "Casper's Lullaby", which is the main reason I purchased the CD. It is also reiterated in "Descent Into Lazerus". This theme is powerful, emotional, and quite breathtaking. If there were any reason to buy this mediocre soundtrack, it would be for those two songs. I recommend buying it used like I did, for $1.99. "Casper's Lullaby" is well worth your two dollars.

This music is definitely one of James Horner's best pieces and although the movie didn't do too well (personally I thought the movie was cute) the music cannot be overlooked. If you ignore the zany (but fun)rendition of "Casper the friendly Ghost" by Little Richard and the cheezy love song somewhere towards the end, you'll find that this music sets great moods spanning from crazy and wacky all the way to slow and sad. This is music that should be listened to in the dark with your eyes closed---and with a killer sound system! Overall: Beautiful music. Fans of dark and more mellow music will particularly enjoy the lighthouse song (sorry, I can't remember it's exact name). Give this soundtrack a try, you won't be sorry.

This recording is an essential for anyone who finds the slightest joy in listening to film soundtracks. This recording is full of emotion, apparent from 00:01. Horner explores melodies and musical presentations, that will both make you cry and jump out of your seat. On a technical note, this is a great recording for audiophiles to have. I personally use the disc as one of my bench test CD's when I am setting up and testing new systems (lord knows I have a thin bank account and wild heart when it comes to stereo systems). Whether your musical tastes lie in instumental ambiance or drifting away into a dream world, this one is sure to whet the appetite!

I must say my favorite song on the soundtrack is One Last Wish. The song reminds me of sadness and how it's through the hard times that we get stronger not only emotionally but "spirit"ually too. One of my friend's acquaintances died about a month ago. This song was played at the funeral. The song is beautiful in itself. The piano and the flute make the song enjoyable. I highly recommend you buy this Cd. This song is the reason why I bought this CD. Go out and get it. It is well worth it. =^)

If you are a fan of James Horner, you'll like this. The music is heartwarming and yet has that eerie feel to it. It makes you feel like you are right inside the movie! It's a great CD (mostly instrumental - like Titanic) with one song called "Remember Me This Way" performed by Jordan Hill, with good lyrics. If you like Horner and some spooks, this is a must to add to your collection. Oh, and the music is written by James Horner, not David Jennings, like the title says...

This is one of the best soundtracks I own. I goes perfectly with the movie and you can picture the action along with the score. My favorite is number 10, "Casper's Lullaby". It is the best music I have heard from James Horner. "Remember Me This Way" is also great. If you prefer more upbeat music, number 4 is exciting and spooky. This score has something for everyone no matter what your tastes are.
