Product Description

MYSTERY, DISGUISES, AND A FIGHT FOR FREEDOM.

The second episode in the CAT ROYAL ADVENTURE series plunges readers into the underbelly of London in a mission for justice. Pedro’s old slave master wants him back, but his friends on Drury Lane won’t give him up without a fight. Disguised as a boy, Cat enters an aristocratic boarding school and scales the heights of London society before joining a street gang to probe its depths, all to secure the freedom of her friend. Like THE DIAMOND OF DRURY LANE, CAT AMONG THE PIGEONS features mysteries, theatrical spectacles, the evil Billy “Boil” Shepherd, and, of course, the irrepressible Cat, who never fails to stir up trouble and save the day wherever she goes. Coming in Spring 2009, Cat travels to Paris during the French Revolution in DEN OF THIEVES.

This review is from: Cat Among the Pigeons (Paperback)
'Cat Among the Pigeons' by Julia Golding is the second book in her 'Cat Royal' series. It is just as refreshing, thrilling, and wonderfully written as the first.
Cat is back for more adventures down Drury Lane, and though the tale told still contains that 'only-Cat' humor, a darker, deeper element has been added as well. Depth has been added to quite a few characters, new ones are introduced, as well as the return of old favorites such as Billy "Boil" Boyd, Sid, and Frank.
The first chapter plunges into tense excitement, Julia Golding doesn't miss any punches with this one. You'll definitely want to have read 'The Diamond of Drury Lane' before reading this, as much of the story and characters depends upon you having met them before.
I was pleased with the whole product of the book, even for a soft cover, it was well made and beautiful. If your a parent looking for a new series for girls or even boys ages 10-14, this is it. You most likely will not find it at Coles, Chapters does carry them, but they are hard to find, so ask. For some reason, these books haven't quite taken off here, and I cannot fathom why. They are the best to come out in a long time. Hats off to Julia Golding for another fantastic work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great First Mystery for Spunky Girls, Aug 8 2009

This review is from: Cat Among The Pigeons: A Cat Royal Adventure (Hardcover)
Love the series. Cat is a vivacious, street-smart heroine and the theater/historical facts are integrated effortlessly. Told from our heroine's perspective, this book is a great pick for the tomboy.
