Description

Synopsis: Cary Grant plays John Robie, reformed jewel thief who was once known as "The Cat," in this suspenseful Alfred Hitchcock classic thriller. Robie is suspected of a new rash of gem thefts in the luxury hotels of the French Riviera, and he must set out to clear himself. Meeting pampered heiress Frances (Grace Kelly), he sees a chance to bait the mysterious thief with her mother's (Jessie Royce Landis) fabulous jewels. His plan backfires, however, but France, who believes him guilty, proves her love by helping him escape. In a spine-tingling climax, the real criminal is exposed. 3.0 out of 5 stars Another great film, ruined by Canadian Policies, Mar 8 2012
This review is from: To Catch a Thief Blu Ray [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I love this film, but like many others lately, I've had to buy it in the United States. As I've said in other reviews, I am proud that this is a bilingual country, I understand law requires advertised products to have French and English labels. What I don't understand is if they are going to put french titles on collectible things such as blu-rays, why don't they use some tact and place the French titles strategically where they enhance the cover art rather than crowd it. It is also disturbing to me that the spine gets crowded with two titles or with the words indicating French is included, why not print the English title on one side of a slipcover and the French on the other?

3 stars for the product sold by this site. 5 stars for the film and the American version, which sorry to say, looks much nicer on a shelf.
