Ce commentaire est de: Catechism of the Catholic Church: Second Edition (Hardcover)
First, I am surprised that I am the first one (in Canada anyway) to review this incredible book. I have purchased several editions in various formats. I just can't get enough of it. For a Catholic, this book is a must (it should be right next to your Bible). For Protestants, members of other Religions, and all people of good will, how can you protest/be informed about the greatest event in history if you don't have this book? You won't learn the full truth about Christianity until you have read it and used it as a guide to understanding the Bible. All religions, including the religion of "no religion" (the Religion of Secularism -- where "if you haven't killed anyone, you're a fine, upstanding member" can be divided into three parts: What you believe; What you worship most (Allah, Buddah or mullah) and; How you act on your beliefs (or value system) -- it's what you value most that drives all your decisions. These are the 3 W's or C's (Words, Worship, Works or Creed, Cult, Code.) The Catechism focuses on all three. So if you want to know what Catholics (Christians, same thing -- the Church was Catholic (Greek for "Universal") for over 1500 years. No human institution (only a Divine one) has ever survived for over 2000 years. We've had bad priests from day one (Judas, for example) but the Church has never erred in its morals or faith. If the "Bad Priests/Popes" couldn't destroy it, who can? We've come a long way from 12 Apostles meeting in each other's homes to St. Peter's Basilca in Rome but Christ did not start Home Depot; He founded a Kingdom - a "Universal" Kingdom built on St. Peter (the first human leader and Pope ("Pappa" or "Father")). By the Fifth Century (remember, the Catholic Church was illegal and persecuted since the time of Jesus "the Christ"), the Church Fathers had already formulated the "Four Marks of the True Church": "We believe in ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH". Only ONE Church -- the Catholic Church can claim these characteristics. Since the Protestant "De-formation", over 20,000 denominations have splintered off -- Christ did not start a franchise. He said, "ON THIS ROCK [Peter, which means "Rock" and Christ named him) I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH" (Matthew 16). He said "MY Church" not "My Churches". It's noteworthy to mention that St. Peter's bones are buried beneath the main altar at St. Peter's Basillica -- located there by the Emperor Constantine in the 300's -- the place were he was crucified and venerated by the early Christian witnesses. The Catechism uses the Sacred Scriptures and over 2000 years of Saints (Yes, as I said before, we have had scoundrals -- but you don't leave Peter because of Judas) to prove this. The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ GOD -- no bones about it! Want to discuss it some more, visit my web site www.ChurchMouse.Bz

The content is wonderful, and so handy for clearing up Catholic beliefs. Hardcover version is sturdy, especially with a book that is read so often. While thick, the book is ultraportable.

This is a well made compact Catholic Catechism book. Good to carry around for study or to read anywhere. Compact as it is, do not expect it to have an Index of Citations and Glossary. If you only need the Church's Catechesis, this is it. If you need the Index of Citations and Glossary, you'd be better off with the bigger CCC book.
