It offers tons of value-including desirable collectibles that will not be available separately-and lets fans feel like they own a part of the game!

From the Manufacturer

Players will enter the life of Vincent Brooks, a 32-year-old man who finds himself caught by the irresistible attraction of the game's titular diversion. Vincent wakes up, hungover, next to a stunningly beautiful woman who isn't his girlfriend. This lands him in a predicament that occupies most men's dreams and nightmares. Did anything happen?  Does he tell his longtime girlfriend, who's pressuring him to commit to her? Can he get away with stringing both women along?  What will you choose to have Vincent do?  Who will you choose to hurt?  In life, cheating can ruin everything, but in the world of Catherine, it can also kill you.

Overview
Vincent really likes his girlfriend. Katherine's pretty, smart, and successful. Trouble is, now she's sat Vincent down for "the talk," and Vincent's spent his entire life trying to avoid long-term commitment.  Since romantic complications are the last thing he wants to deal with, Vincent meets his friends for their regular night of drinks.  Little does he know that he's about to be blindsided by a drop-dead sexy freight train named Catherine.  When the morning comes, he's hungover in bed next to the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, unable to recall the previous night's events.  Was it just harmless fooling around, he wonders, or did something more serious happen between them?  Should he tell Katherine?  Will he ever see Catherine again?  Vincent's about to discover that stumbling on the stairway of love can turn into a horrific, fatal plummet...

Vincent, not quite sure about commitment.

Game Features

  • The Horrors of Love—Vincent's waking fears, doubts, pressures, and growing guilt about commitment and fidelity now gleefully follow him into his dreams, manifesting as horribly disfigured monsters and a ticking clock.
  • Between a Rock and a Soft Place—The player must navigate Vincent through heavy moral decisions. As in real life, hardly anything is black and white. What is the value of honesty? What is the right thing to do? Either way, someone's going to get hurt. Worse yet, someone could die.
  • The Nightmare of Your Dreams—Under the watch of producer Katsura Hashino, acclaimed director of Persona 3 and Persona 4, famed character artist Shigenori Soejima and master composer Shoji Meguro create sights and sounds unlike anything else. As unforgettable and original as the game's narrative, Catherine's visual direction and musical score define and perfectly complement Vincent's terrifying ascent into the dizzying perils of love.
  • Escape With or From a Friend—Local competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, in addition to leaderboards, ensure that the many thrills and horrors of racing through twisted stages can be enjoyed by more than one player and add hours of extra gameplay to the overall experience.

There will be trouble with fiancee Katherine.

Catherine is an absolutely fantastic action adventure puzzle platforming game. It decisively proves to the Western market that Japanese Developers can still bring something original and entertaining.

That being said, I cannot recommend this game as a purchase from Amazon. Amazon.ca has very much disappointed and failed me. I had pre-ordered this game in May only a few days after it had shown up on the Amazon.ca marketplace. The game did not ship when it was supposed to. And currently Amazon.ca has no idea when they will be able to ship this item.

I do not see myself purchasing any other products from Amazon.ca in the future.

Please buy this fantastic game and support Atlus' creative efforts in the world of gaming, but look elsewhere.

Great game from the Persona team as expected. It's a very fun game if you can get into the puzzles & don't mind a bit of punishment (when looking at Demon's Souls it's not that bad). I've heard on forums that people gave up due to the puzzles, that's too bad because the story is great & throws you for a few loops in the later segments. The gameplay is rather unique, or at least I've never played a similar game. I love how it keeps you on your toes; quick thinking is rewarded with the relief of being far from the abyss, but the most memorable moments are when you're barely escaping the abyss, scrambling to make it just a few more floors to safety with that bell clanging louder & louder. Of all the gamebryo engine games I've played this is one of the more visually appealing, & the cut-scenes are great. The morality system is quite interesting, especially if you answer truthfully in your first playthrough; it actually has some effect on the story beyond just changing some characters around in the ending like many games that claim to have "real consequences", I wish the other bar patrons were a bit more involved rather than just talking to them to solve their problems.

The game has some pop culture references thrown in which I always love to pick out, the 2 of my favorites being the reference to Monty Python's Spanish inquisition (nobody expects the... trophy) and a reference to Castlevania 2's day to night transition.

As for the special edition itself; the large cover art slip that goes over the pizza box is nice, the box itself is well... a pizza box, it fits with the theme and it's one of the more creative packaging ideas I've seen. T-shirt is fine, it fits but a size selection would've been preferred I can imagine that would be a hassle so I can deal with it.

As with the other customers who have taken time to write a review, my disappointed stems with the fact that Amazon has been unable to deliver my item as of yet - and that they have no estimation as to when that may be. I put m order in for the game at the beginning of May, pretty much at the instant I heard about the Deluxe Edition. If I cannot receive the bonuses of the Deluxe Edition, there is no doubt that I'll be incredibly upset with Amazon for failing to provide me with what I ordered - given that these bonuses will be in small supply. I have been able to play the game through my roommate's copy (which he received as part of a Deluxe Edition ordered through Gamestop, a company that was able to provide the Deluxe Edition on time!) and I love it - but at this point, just getting the game would be a severe disappointment. I was looking forward to the items, otherwise I would have never bothered ordering this edition.

I have always loved the game and story Catherine ever since I bought it the first day it came out. Anything and everything to do with Catherine I own, and this is a perfect set for any Catherine fan. Soon as I opened it I was in love. If you know the game you will recognize everything in the set very quickly. It is like you reached in the TV and pulled out the stuff. If you know someone or are someone who loves Catherine I say buy this. Even if you already have the game buy it's self it is worth buying the set anyways for the extras.

I pre-ordered my game about 2 month ago, and so far amazon still haven't secured any copies. Still I had faith in amazon and waited. Now the Love is Over edition is sold out pretty much everywhere and I am extremely upset. Never pre-ordering from Amazon again!!!!!!!!!!

One of the game's main selling point is the player's ability to control the many different outcomes of the plot. I especially love the puzzle solving of this game. Very Challenging and rewarding. Despite its difficulty if you are the type of person that doesn't give up until a puzzle is solved then this is the game for you.

As many have already stated the game itself is amazing, but pre-ordering from Amazon, I don't think I'll ever do that again...tI preordered since may 2011 and then find out from amazon that: "oh we don't have the game" on release and they haven't even told us what's happening just telling us, we'll tell you when it becomes available...
