Book Description

March 23 2010
From the #1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense comes a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive
17-year-old Haley McWaid is a good girl, the pride of her suburban New Jersey family, captain of the lacrosse team, headed off to college next year with all the hopes and dreams her doting parents can pin on her. Which is why, when her mother wakes one morning to find that Haley never came home the night before, and three months quickly pass without word from the girl, the community assumes the worst.

Wendy Tynes is a reporter on a mission, to identify and bring down sexual predators via elaborate-and nationally televised-sting operations. Working with local police on her news program Caught in the Act, Wendy and her team have publicly shamed dozens of men by the time she encounters her latest target. Dan Mercer is a social worker known as a friend to troubled teens, but his story soon becomes more complicated than Wendy could have imagined.

In a novel that challenges as much as it thrills, filled with the astonishing tension and unseen suburban machinations that have become Coben's trademark, Caught tells the story of a missing girl, the community stunned by her loss, the predator who may have taken her, and the reporter who suddenly realizes she can't trust her own instincts about this story-or the motives of the people around her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whew May 4 2010
Format:Hardcover
I raced through this book which is what I usually do with most of Harlan Coban's books. Another amazing story that had me hunched over the book, unable to do anything else until it was done. The only quibble I had was bringing in the characters from his Myron Bolitar stories. To me that was a bit surreal. Like having worlds collide. But a minor quibble. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very intriguing and intricate mystery Jan. 24 2012
By Pat the cat TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
So far, I've read about half a dozen Coben novels. While all have been quite good, this particular book completely hooked me. I simply couldn't not put it down. I just had to know what would happen and how the parallel stories would link up. In this case, we have a social worker (apparently a good guy) who appears to have been set up by a TV show aimed at exposing sexual predators who pray on teens via the Internet. We also have the mysterious disappearance of a teenager with no history of trouble/problems. A bunch of other characters get involved, directly and indirectly, into one or the other or both stories.... It's a convoluted plot with intricate subplots but somehow it all hangs together really well and in no time at all, you find yourself consumed with finding out who did what, when, why and how.... Furthermore, this author is really good at pulling the heart strings and he makes you reflect/feel for the parents of the missing girl, the innocents that are falsely accused, the victims of absurd crimes and unfair accidents, the guilt associated with tragic errors. I almost shed some tears at the end which shows how well some of the characters and the story were developed. Because of that , it makes it easy for me to ignore some of the plot twists that were a bit too far fetched and easily resolved. I give it a 4.5 out 5 stars = very, very good...

2.0 out of 5 stars Harlan can do better Oct. 5 2012
By R. Widdowson TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
I'm still waiting for the Harlan Coben thriller that will knock my socks off. He's a very good writer but I think his PR is even better. There were several times he described different people using exactly the same phrase, 'he (or she) spread her arms wide...', whatever that action suggestions. Not sure. Also, he used the same descriptor of a big person and a tall skinny person in two different novels (they looked like a bowling ball and bowling pin). Maybe this is a running gag in his books, but when I read this phrase in the second book I felt a bit hoodwinked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced & Thrilling Jan. 15 2011
By Sandra
Format:Hardcover
I haven't written reviews for Amazon just yet, I have been a dedicated customer for a year now and their service is beyond fantastic.
I recently received this book as a Christmas gift ~ my Mom received the same one; from my sister.
My Mom and I love Harlan's books as well as Dean Koontz and Stephen King. The last one we raved about was Under the Dome by Stephen King but this book; Caught, is beyond incredible!
I read this book in ONE day, it is THAT GOOD.
You seriously cannot put the book down whatsoever. It is fast-paced, the characters are fantastic, everything ties in together wonderfully and without flaw and it's got so many twist and turns that when you think it's over, it is definitely not.

This is one of thee best Harlan Coben books I have ever read and the only disappointment here is that it weren't longer!
They should definitely make a movie about this book and I guarentee it will be a hit at the box office. We definitely need more movies that have this sort of flawless and riveting storyline.

I applaud Mr. Coben on this masterpiece of his.
I absolutely loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read - 1st time reading from this author April 16 2011
By Deena
Format:Mass Market Paperback
After reading the reviews here I thought to get CAUGHT for Kindle. I enjoy a good Stephen King novel and someone said Coben is similar, so that is why I gave it a whirl. I was not disappointed at all! Coben writes similar to King, but at a much faster pace. The characters were laid out well, the storyline zipped along. I totally recommend this book. I will probablly go find another Coben book to see if the second time around is as good for me as CAUGHT was.
