Product Description

Mirroring the ancient formulaic prayers to the elements found in the Celtic tradition, along with the wondrous invocations and declarations of the bards of the Scottish, Irish and Welsh traditions, Celtic Devotional provides a mystical doorway through which the modern person can re-invest their life with meaning within the twilight times of dusk and dawn.
Celtic spirituality emphasizes the appreciation of nature and all forms of life -- a popular and universally appealing philosophy that, along with other related pagan traditions, is having a renaissance. Beautifully illustrated and designed, this book will appeal to readers searching for ways to practice spirituality, offering blessings, prayers and devotions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Celtic Devotional: Daily Prayers & Blessings, Dec 16 2009
By
This review is from: Celtic Devotional: Daily Prayers and Blessings (Hardcover)
Celtic Devotional: Daily Prayers and Blessings, is a beautifully illustrated book. It also captures the essence of Celtic connection with the Divine Mystery. The exercises have been thoughtfully developed to bring a higher awareness of the cycles of Nature and their connection with the human psyche.

I was also impressed with Powell's and the way the shipped the book. They provided a very secure, sealed envelope-type packaging that ensured the book arrived intact. I was happy with Amazon's consideration in keeping me informed as to the shipping of the book, and when I could expect to receive it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fills a need for your everyday routine made holy, Mar 22 2004

(REAL NAME)
For those of you who may be skeptical about this as a "new age" gaullimaufry of whimsy or wistfulness, be assured that this little guide helps you direct your meditations and actions effectively--out of navel-gazing into both the natural and what for most of us is the artificial, urban, mundane world.

A helpful counterpart for Alexei Kondratiev's more detailed explanations of Celtic Reconstructionism in his book on context and ritual, "The Apple Branch" aka "Celtic Rituals." Combined, the two work well to explain the Celtic worldview in a sensible, ethical, and outwardly-focused manner, in a way that both a monotheist and a more "flexible" seeker could appreciate.

I rarely give five stars, but as reviewers have noted, this little vademecum ("Take me with you!") satisfies a way to make the rather daunting erudition of Kondrateiv a bit more digestible in a recommended daily requirement dose!
