4.0 out of 5 stars A real gem, Mar 27 2006
By Michael Wheeler "Stratocaster" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Celtic Journey (Audio CD)
This last week I bought the Celtic Woman CD, and a whole new world of music was opened up to me.
I not only heard the traditional songs like Danny Boy, but I was exposed to fine music, by 5 extraordinary performers.
Mairead who is the violinist immediately caught my eye. Mairead is a premiere violinist and I would recommend her CD as well.
As I watched the DVD over and over again, a singer emerged that has possibly the purest voice I have ever heard.
I cannot decide if I like Lisa or Meav's voice better
I found Meav's new CD at the store and purchased it along with Mairead's. Meav's voice at times sounds like opera or even classical music and loses its Celtic qualities. She is however an outstanding soprano.
Meav is not only a fine singer, but has possibly the finest soprano voice I have ever heard.
This particular CD, has several Celtic songs including, She Moved thru the Air, Celtic Prayer, Danny Boy, Greensleeves, and my favorite Christmas Carol, Silent Night. It is wonderful to hear Silent Night sung in Irish. I like to hear Christmas songs sung in other languages, such as German, Irish etc. Her version of Silent Night is possibly the best I have ever heard.
Meav has certainly caught my attention and hopefully she will catch yours. You need to give this one a chance, you won't be sorry.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meav's great, but this CD repeats earlier tracks, Mar 7 2006

Make sure you check out Meav's self-titled CD "Meav" before purchasing "A Celtic Journey," because this CD contains some of the same songs. The same thing occurs on the new "Celtic Women" CD. But Meav's voice is worth hearing over and over!

5.0 out of 5 stars Transcendently Impressive, Feb 21 2006
By Marie - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Celtic Journey (Audio CD)
I was currently given this Cd as a gift from a friend. I have listened to Meav since 2004, and have heard her songs even when she was still with Anuna. A Celtic Journey is an impressive collection of Meav's best songs.

Meav's music has truly matured through the years. The quality, clarity and passion in her voice becomes more superb each passing year. And this Cd contains all the songs on that wonderful journey.

The arrangement on this version of "She Moved Through the Fair" is quite unique. "The Last Rose of Summer" definitely demonstrates Meav's true vocal talent in classical, and not just traditional irish music. Meav sang "Down by the Salley Gardens," "Suantrai" and "Goltrai" for the admirable solo Cd of Andreja Malir ("Through the mirror of sound") and I am glad Meav added these songs in this collection for those who have not heard of the latter Cd of the famous orchestra harpist.

I dreamt I dwellt in Marbled Halls, Celtic Prayer and Danny Boy are my favorite. No one can sing them like Meav!

Greensleeves was definely My Delight!

And Dante's Prayer is truly a memorable song. It stands out definitely in this Cd.

You may also find yourself playing this version of "Silent Night," just for a lullabye (even if its not the holiday season).

If I am introducing someone new to Meav's music, this is the Cd I would get them.

Meav: A Celtic Journey takes your on a serene and meditative journey while listening to these wonderful collection.

Truly a Celtic Excellence!
