I'm somewhat of a mixed mind on this release. On the one hand, there's no denying the convenience of being able to put on the disc, sit back and be able to hear Sousa marches, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Rule Britannia, La Marsellaise, Anchors Aweigh, The British Grenadiers, Colonel Bogey and more, including Ippolitov-Ivanov's Procession of the Sardar. Unfortunately, many of the selections are taken just too fast for my tastes. And, as at least one other reviewer noted, the Sousa marches just don't sound right when rendered by full orchestra rather than band. I suspect that there are better march collections out there, but I admit to being too lazy to search for them. This album is okay, but I still idly wish it were better.
