Product Description

Product Description

Provocative work by distinguished African-American scholar traces the migration north and westward of southern blacks, from the colonial era through the early 20th century. Documented with information from contemporary newspapers, personal letters, and academic journals, this discerning study vividly recounts decades of harassment and humiliation, hope and achievement.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh Well, Jan 16 2010
By Big Sistah Patty - Published on Amazon.com
I highly recommend this book for readers of history. I am giving this book a three stars for the simple reason is that Mr. Woodson is telling the truth, but he obviously has disdain for his subjects. He has a very elitist posture and it annoys the hell of me as reader.
