The publication of this interesting, scholarly and informative story of the famous Malibu Potteries was an exciting new venture for the Malibu Lagoon Museum. Because of the evergrowing interest in these beautiful and now rare decorative tiles, the Museum felt mandated to produce this book. The authors are not only the researchers, historians and compilers of the background and history of the Malibu Potteries but custodians and exhibitors of one of the largest single depositories of Malibu tile as represented in the historic Adamson home on our grounds as well as in the Museum. Technical ceramic associations and societies, industry affiliates, architectural groups, and ceramic scholars have encouraged us to publish this book. We have provided a comprehensive picture of what is considered some of the finest decorative ceramic art to be found anywhere. The Malibu Potteries is now long gone, destroyed by fire in 1932, and never rebuilt, but this book will always remain as testimony to its renowned existence and reputation and its contribution to ceramic history.

A fabulous book for artists, history buffs, and others. Beautifully tells and illustrates the brief but engaging history of the Malibu Potteries. Along with full color examples of the designs, finished tiles and installations, the book takes the reader back to the time and place through personal stories and archival photographs. Each time I pick up this book it inspires me. Highly recommended!

A wonderful book of color pictures of the tiles made at the Malibu Potteries. The book provides a history of the pottery, bios of many of the employees and fabulous pictures of malibu tile installtions.I love the colorful tile designs, but there are also Aztecian terra cotta designs that are inspirational as well. It's all here. Highly recommended for tile makers and historians.

This book is a must have reference for all potters, interior designers, tile makers and setters, graphic artists and color lovers. Malibu Potteries is a group of people that never should have passed on by. This book covers it all with beautiful pictures of the some of their work, along with the information on how it came together. I wish....to go back in time and somehow stop the fire!
