Product Description

Amazon.ca

As modern and contemporary as the new Charlie's Angels is supposed to be, the soundtrack, with the exception of a few new offerings from Destiny's Child, Aerosmith, and Fatboy Slim, is a nostalgic mix tape of 1970s and '80s hits. The older songs are fun and ripe for a party: Tavares's "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel," Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up (Part1)," and Deee-lite's "Groove is in the Heart" are certain to please a crowd. The new tracks, with one notable exception, are weak and contrived. Destiny's Child offers "Independent Women (Part 1)," an empty declaration of female self-reliance (aren't we over this already?). Aerosmith's "Angel's Eye" is, in a word, terrible. The exception is Caviar's "Tangerine Speedo," a trip-hoppy lounge groove that packs a sassy punch. All in all, Charlie's Angels is a solid purchase, but in spite of, not because of, the new material. --Courtney Kemp

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite soundtracks July 7 2004

Format:Audio CD
I bought this soundtrack when it first came out and I loved it. Sure, none of the songs on here may be considered high art, but if you love fun, upbeat, enjoyable music, then you can't go wrong with this soundtrack.

I like just about every song on here. The new songs and the older songs flow well together, and it's about the only place you'll find Heart's "Barracuda" and Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back" together on one CD. It is that kind of anything goes method of song selection that make this CD worth checking out. There's something for everyone, and I highly recommend it.

Well, Hi, I just have to say it's an excellent soundtrack, but I wrote just to ask your help because I'd like to know a song's name from the movie, it's been played when Angels appear to fight to the tall creepy guy, and also when he was falling from the Bridge. Any help you can offer, that would be appreciated. thank you

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing amazing, but still good. April 6 2004

This is pretty much your typical soundtrack. It's got a few film-related songs, and then just a random selection of old and new. Highlights are from "Destiny's Child", "Heart", "The Vapors", and "Deee-lite". Of course most of the rest is good too, if you can stand to hear "Baby Got Back" one more time. I seem to remember a "Korn" song in the movie, but I guess that didn't quite fit in here. The sequel's soundtrack is decent too, but overall this one is better. Where else are you gonna hear "Tom Green" singing?
