The rest of the season follows the usual Charlie's Angels formula of relying on the cast's appealing personalities and substantive, anti-bimbo characters, while also getting them (well, not Jackson so much) in various states of undress as quickly as possible. An accent on stories requiring the wearing of leotards and showgirl costumes certainly helps the cause, but there are plenty of non-exploitational episodes as well. Among the best programs is "Angel Come Home," in which Jill arrives at Charlie's by surprise after receiving a phony emergency cable in Europe from someone claiming to be Kris. Eager to investigate, Jill soon hooks up with an old friend (Horst Buchholz) developing a new car engine targeted by enemies. "Angels in Springtime" capitalizes on a creepy suggestion of lesbian incarcerators running an expensive spa for women. "Haunted Angels" is a spooky tale of a young man's demanding spirit being channeled, from beyond the grave, through a terrified woman. It could be real or it could be a scam; only the Angels can find out. "Counterfeit Angels" finds a trio of bank robbers claiming to be Kris, Kelly, and Sabrina; the girls fight for their innocence. Finally, a great episode from its era (1979), "Disco Angels," gets the ladies exactly where they belong: on a dance floor. --Tom Keogh

Has A Few Clunkers, But Still Good,

This review is from: Charlie's Angels : Season 3 (DVD)
Season Three of "Charlie's Angels" , which ran from 1978 to 1979, fell a little in my opinion from the previous two, perhaps in view of the fact that Kate Jackson wanted out of the show and Farrah Fawcett's guest appearances were somewhat lackluster. As great as it was to see the Angels together again, it was clear that Farrah did not want to be there. Having said that, however, there are some great episodes in this season - my favorites being the two-parter "Angels In Vegas" (featuring guest stars Dean Martin, and in his first appearance on CA, Vic Morrow), the classic "Angels In Springtime", "Haunted Angels", "Angel On My Mind", "Angels On Vacation", "Counterfeit Angels", "Angel In A Box" and "Teen Angels". While most episodes have pros and cons, and despite some good acting and guest stars, some just were duds, like "Pom Pom Angels", "Marathon Angels", "Angels Belong In Heaven" and "Terror On Skis". One previous reviewer mentioned that the writing became lazy and uninspired, perhaps due to the show's huge success going to the heads of some. But I love "Charlie's Angels" and I would gladly watch it over most of what passes as "entertainment" on television today. My favorite Angels, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd are always a delight to watch. Having the series on DVD is a great tribute to the late Aaron Spelling, David Doyle, Farrah Fawcett and John Forsythe. While it's not necessarily Emmy-worthy storytelling by any means, it is entertaining and appealing and pure escapism. Hope the fifth and final season will be released soon.

Good Lord-Angels 3 is Great,
This review is from: Charlie's Angels : Season 3 (DVD)
As a fan of the series I was more than happy to watch Season 3 in full. With Farrah Fawcett making guest appearances after leaving the series at the end of the first season-and Cheryl Ladd doing an admirable job of filling her shoes...despite the terrible writing at times. Some of the funniest parts are the mistakes that were done in the original editing of the series-for example...in the episode where Kris Monroe gets amnesia after being struck by a car during the witnessing of a murder...her car is parked outside the restaurant where the crime occured-flash forward to an outside office shot and her car is parked outside the detective agency where they then say that her car is missing along with her-and the car is back at the restaurant in the next scene.Or when Farrah returns and is involved in racing a fancy race car-they show a close up of her in a blue helmut driving and as the car goes around the track-she has a white helmut and then reversed later in the show-close up of her in a white helmut and then the driver has a blue helmut on the track....it is quite obvious the poor editing job that was done on this show...but also funny at the same time. There are a few other little quirks as well-but these ones stand out quite a bit.Its a good thing this show had some Fabulous ladies working on it as well as the comedic lisp of David Doyle as Bosley.Truly the show was a cultural phenom for its time. You gotta love the 70's and the silliness and innocent humour that made so much of TV in that era enjoyable.Kate Jacksons final full season-she was the best!!!
