This has a lot of information about all kinds of holidays, festivals and celebrations either national, state or local etc. all over the United States. However, it's not a total compilation, as many holidays and observances are not listed in this book, but are on-line at their own websites. So, I wouldn't say this is a complete authority, but it's a good basis.

There is also additional lists of information about famous people's birthdays, lunar cycles, etc. Just a whole lot of stuff in here.
