This is an excellent book on survival in the short, medium and long terms. Has everything from homemade backpacking stoves to a make it yourself radiation counter to a philosophy of raising children my wife and I are trying. He's a pretty good hard science fiction author as well

This book should never have gone out of print! A how-to survival guide for the most unimaginable scenario - nuclear accidents. Thing is, this book, and the information it contains, will be great to have for nearly any man-made or natural disaster! Somebody reprint this book!

I bought this book when it was first released in 1988 and it has been on my top 10 list ever since. My original copy is dog-eared and marked with border notes and plenty of highlighting. Not only have I recommended this book to many, many people but I've bought probably a dozen copies and given them as gifts. I agree with the previous reviewer and think Dean should not only update and re-release it but he should do it in hardbound. The packing list of supplies for long time survival noted in this book not only make you think but make the purchase price worth every cent...
Great piece of work on survivalisim, highly recommended!
