Funny and unique!,

This review is from: Chester (Paperback)
As I sit here thinking about what to write for this review, I feel at a loss for words. Not because it's a bad book ' because it's far from that ' but because it's just so unique and cute that I can't think of what else to say for it.Chester is the story of Melanie Watt, really, who's trying to write a story about a mouse, but Chester keeps wanting to write his own story as she writes. So he goes in and changes thing with his trusty red marker, crossing out what Melanie writes and crafting his own idea of a good story. This was such a cute book and I really enjoyed the interaction between Melanie and Chester. I liked how it wasn't a random person writing a story, but the author of the book herself. Chester is a great character, just so full of himself and his abilities as an author. Of course, isn't it only a cat who could put themselves on such a high pedestal? Charming Handsome Envy of Mouse Smart Talented Envy of Mélanie Really handsome Chester may not be the favourite Melanie Watt creation ' for me, Scaredy Squirrel will always hold a special place in my heart ' but he is definitely worthy of a place in a book. And it's always so wonderful to find unique and giftable Canadian books. I'm not so much a cat person, but I remember reading Garfield comics when I was younger and loving them. Chester is the Garfield for the new millenium. Read his story and be prepared to laugh and feel sympathy for Melanie ' will we ever get her story? Recommended.

I loved this book!,

This book is fabulous. I love Melanie Watt's humour. It is very silly, yet clever.Beware, though, this book could inspire naughty behaviour if the young reader does not understand that it is a joke. I read it to grade three students, amid peals of laughter. We also loved all of Scaredy Squirrel's adventures.

This is a great bed time story. My 3 1/2 year old thinks it is very funny. She will ask for it by name.
