Love Chicken Soup books and I like this one but not as much of a page turner or tear jerker as some of the previous dog and cat ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another charmer from Chicken Soup for the Soul! Oct. 6 2012

My elderly mother loves to read but she has dementia which means her attention span is very short. She has always had pets in her life so I have been buying dog and cat story books from this series for her. As with the others the stories are well written, engaging and short enough for quick reads. I carried the book around with me for a couple of days before taking it to her and found it was enjoyable reading whenever I had a few moments between appointments. Not overly sentimental and yet heartfelt. For me, the best thing is that my mother loves this book and has made it from beginning to end without getting frustrated. There is enough diversity in the stories to keep the reader entertained. I also learned some skills for dealing with habits in my own pets that drive me a little crazy. And certainly there were plenty of laughs.

2.0 out of 5 stars What has happened to the Chicken Soup books? Jan. 4 2014
By B. Schwarz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Chicken Soup books used to be reliably uplifting. The stories were optimistic and inspirational - real "feel good" books that made me feel better about life. My Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul is so dog-eared from re-reading, I should replace it. But this book isn't anything like that. The stories don't inspire feeling at all, except and occasional chuckle of recognition of something my dog could have done.

But there are some awful stories as well - a dead dog under the Christmas tree? Really? Do I want to read about that? And then they put it out in the back of their pickup until after Christmas. And they thought they was what...funny?

If you want an enjoyable and uplifting book, get Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers soul. Don't bother paying for this one - it's just trying to make money for what has become a huge franchise.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can believe a dog did that! Nov. 5 2012

Chicken Soup books just keep getting better and better! I bought this Kindle book from Amazon because I have a 20 month old Maltese pup who has eaten everything from SOS pads to the keypad off of my cell phone. I could so totally relate to every story in this book...it reminded me 101 times that every furball is indeed a man's best friend! This is one book that I am going to treasue forever!

I felt it was not very interesting compared to my other CS pet book. Just didn't get anything out of it.
