Chicken Soup for the Soul is the perfect gift for the expectant mother, or the mom just after the new arrival. Perhaps she'll find a moment when her child is resting, and she can slip in one or two stories quick. Better yet, the new DAD can read her a story while she nurses the new little one.
I must admit to a favorite due to personally knowing Nikki Studebaker Barcus, the author/mother who attends church where my wife and I do. We're also good friends with her parents. She's a good writer, and this story is about her first-born. "Noah to the Rescue" is a short story that gets top billing in our house, but honestly, many other stories are equal in value and fun reading entertainment. Tissues may be needed for some heart-warmed tears or laugh tears. Better yet, use a cloth diaper; they're coming back into use.
OK, true, this Chicken Soup-New Moms collection is well beyond Nikki's true story. All stories are true, making them even more fun. I'm waiting for my 10th grandchild to be born, a he, and it's mom and dad's first-born; so perhaps this is a perfect baby shower gift for them. A perfect doctor's office waiting room book. A gift for almost any woman, even though it could be considered family-friendly.
I've read many Chicken Soup for the Soul collections. This is my first written for New Moms. But now I've learned, it not just for new moms, its by some new moms, related to new moms, honoring new moms, but actually enjoyable reading for everyone, even retired old grandfathers.
