Child Safety is a timely and informative one-hour home-videocassette that provides new and useful information for parents, children and their caregivers about keeping children safe. More American children die each year from accidental injuries than from all childhood illnesses combined. Last year, accidents killed almost 8,000 children under the age of 14. Another 30 million children were injured. Child Safety, hosted and narrated by award-winning Broadway, film and television actress Judith Ivey, allows adults to view unsafe situations from the child's point-of-view. The program uses state-of-the-art electronic graphics to illustrate and reinforce important points for children to remember in a variety of potentially dangerous situations – staying home alone, riding on bikes or in cars, playing at home or in school, connecting to strangers on the computer, and living in homes with guns. Child Safety shares with families the latest research on keeping safe, the real-life stories of three families whose children survived life-threatening injuries, and the experience of experts who work with children of all ages from infants to teens. Each segment also offers a safety checklist for parents.
