Product Description

This classic Lyrichord recording features a stunning performance on the cheng, China's ancient 16-stringed zither, which first appears as early as 200 b.c. The cheng is played here by Professor Liang Tsai-Ping, one of the world's few acknowledged masters of this beautiful and difficult instrument. Tsai-Ping is unique in that he is equally adept both in reviving and performing ancient Chinese Cheng Music, and in composing original works for the cheng. Some form of zither exists in every world culture, and China's ancient cheng maintains its position high in the pantheon of stringed instruments.
