Solo performer Liu Fang plays authentic instrumental pieces for the pipa, a 2000-year-old four-stringed Chinese lute. This extraordinary collection od digitally-recorded traditional compositions captures the pipa's unique and meditative sound. Complete with detailed liner notes in English, French and Chinese.
About the Artist
Liu Fang was born in Kunming, Yunnan Province, Peoples' Republic of China in 1974. She studied the pipa at the Kunming Art School under professor Zhen Qen-Rung. At an early age, Liu Fang won several prizes in provincial and national music competitions. She continued her studies (pipa and zheng)at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under professor Ye Xu-Ran. In 1993, she became the solo pipa player in the Kunming orchestra for Chinese Music. Liu Fang's talent has taked her to Europe, Japan and North America. She Currently resides in Canada.

this is a very high quality recording and a great artist, you will not be disapointed. I listened to all of her others and while her ability shines through on all of them the sound quality does not come close to this.
